kanthari is an impact leadership institute that offers a 12-month training course for visionaries who have overcome adversity and because of that carry a plan for social change. At kanthari, these change-makers are equipped with skills and tools that are required to start and run impact-making organizations/initiatives that address social and/or environmental issues.
We do not have professors or teachers at kanthari, but instead we work with catalysts. Catalysts are able to guide our participants through the course and contribute to participants’ projects through their unique life experiences and skill sets.
Your role would be mainly to contribute to the growth of our dual program, INANI and BASCH, which nurtures products/services addressing real-world problems from idea to launch. These products or services are meant to enhance the goal of their main social/environmental ventures and generate additional income. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in business, a creative mindset, and a commitment to social impact.
What you’ll be doing:
This course is designed to guide aspiring social entrepreneurs through the essential steps of creating and managing a social enterprise.
By combining business acumen with social impact, participants will learn how to establish ventures that prioritize positive societal change while maintaining financial sustainability
- Guide Problem Identification and Solution Creation:
Help participants pinpoint critical social and environmental issues, encouraging them to generate innovative ideas that can lead to meaningful change. - Guide Product/Service Development Stages:
Take participants through each phase of the development process, from idea inception to design, testing, business plan development, and launch. - Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship:
Definition and evolution of social enterprises, The difference between traditional businesses and social enterprises, global trends and examples - Business Planning:
Designing a business model with a dual focus: profit and impact. Creating a revenue model that can be financially sustainable. Crafting a value proposition that resonates with granters/ social impact investors. Managing long-term financials. Practical exercises for the participants to build models with their own projects - Financing a Social Enterprise:
Overview of funding options, building a pitch for social investment, managing financials for long-term sustainability - Measuring Impact and Success Tools and frameworks for impact assessment, reporting
- Identifying , reaching out and connecting with future participants.
- Scaling for Greater Impact: Strategies for growth without mission drift, Case studies on scaling successes and lessons learned
We’re looking for:
a Catalyst who sees business as a powerful tool for addressing social and environmental challenges, prioritizing purpose over profit.
Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in nature and enjoys working in a serene, natural setting—our campus is located on the outskirts of Trivandrum, Kerala, on the banks of a beautiful lake. You may not have an academic background in business, but what truly matters is your hands-on experience in running or incubating businesses, whether they thrived or faced challenges. You must have a passion for crafting engaging and effective learning experiences.
This role calls for someone who can break down complex business concepts into clear, accessible ideas for a diverse group of social change-makers from various backgrounds, ages, and cultures—many of whom have no prior experience in running a business.
We offer a Competitive compensation and benefits package
Compensation: ₹35,000 – ₹45,000 (monthly)
Plus Accommodation in staff quarters within walking distance from the campus and meals.
